MH370 experts are asking what has happened to the debris handed in by Alex Braum who lives in South Africa.

Richard Godfrey, who has devised a new way of tracking MH370 using WSPRnet technology, said that Ms Braum found the debris on a beach in South Africa at 34.449807°S 20.652071°E on November 13, 2016.

Alex said that "the find was made in a nature reserve which is closed to the public and you need a special permit to enter. There was a supermoon on November 14, 2016, which was especially “super” because it’s the closest full moon to Earth since 1948. We won’t see another supermoon like this until 2034. The tides and rip currents were manic and there was a lot of debris washed up on this particular beach."

The debris found in South Africa has gone missing.

Alex notified the ATSB who forwarded her photos and information to Malaysia, who collected the item in December 2016.

Richard said that "we never heard anything more from Malaysia regarding their analysis of the debris item."

"I was struck by the similarities to a debris item found in Tanzania by Paul Smithson in 2016 and a debris item found by a fisherman and handed to Blaine Gibson in Madagascar in 2018.
