The Cathay Group has reached a major milestone, now flying to 100 destinations globally as of June this year.
This achievement highlights the airline’s continued growth and reinforces its position as a leading international carrier with extensive global reach. Further strengthening this is the significant increase in Cathay Pacific’s flight frequencies across Australia and New Zealand, making it an airline that can take you to your dream destinations.
Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mable Chan, commented:
‘As Cathay hits the magic 100, so too does Hong Kong International Airport and Hong Kong as an international aviation hub. With the Three-Runway System already commissioned late last year, we have the enormous capacity to grow.’
And grow it is. In 2025, Cathay Pacific and its low-cost subsidiary HK Express will add 18 new destinations — a huge commitment to expansion that significantly increases seat capacity and connection opportunities for both leisure and business travellers.
Looking specifically at Australia and New Zealand, from 27 October 2025, Cathay Pacific will operate double daily services from Brisbane and Perth, bringing each city to 14 weekly flights. At the same time, the return of the seasonal service to Cairns and the introduction of a seasonal service in Adelaide reflect a targeted response to peak season travel demand.
Across the Tasman, Cathay Pacific is boosting its presence in New Zealand with an increase to 11 weekly flights from Auckland starting on 2 December 2025, providing enhanced flexibility for both outbound and inbound travel. Additionally, seasonal Christchurch services will return even earlier, ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the Southern Hemisphere’s summer.

Perth (PER): Increased to double daily, with 14 flights per week from 27 October 2025, operating as CX144 or CX140

New Zealand flight frequency updates

Christchurch (CHC): Seasonal service operating four times per week from early December 2025 to the end of February 2026, and three times per week throughout March 2026
