Asia dominates airport customer service awards

China and Singapore host the big international airports at which travelers are likely to get the best customer service but the best experience in arrivals will be in Bangalore, India. The Airports Council International has released its 2019 awards with a record 84 recipients winning 140 awards and revealing which airport does what the best and where. And Asia, including the Indian subcontinent, rules when it comes to customer service. READ: Take a magic carpet ride back to the golden era of flying For airports with more than 40 million passengers, the customer service experts are  Chongqing Jianbei International Airport in China and Singapore Changi Airport. Changi, a perennial favorite with passengers, also got up in the best airport, best infrastructure and facilitation as well as best environment and ambiance categories. In the 25-40 million group, the winners were Bangalore's  Kempegowda International Airport, which also won the gong for the best arrivals experience, and Nanjing Lukou International Airport in China. Customer service winners among the smaller airports included Bali International Airport, China's Sanya Fenghau International Airport, India's Chandigarh Airport and Depati Amir Airport in Indonesia. Indian airports featured prominently in several categories, including best major airport winners Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Dehli. ACI said winners such as Changi, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Indira Gandhi, Indianapolis International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, Changi, Toronto Pearson, Aeroporto di Roma-Fiumicino, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and Sheremetyevo International Airport had been joined by first time recipients from all regions. First-time winners included airports from Africa, India, the US, Canada, Europe and Indonesia. The most improved airports included Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Stockholm-Bromma Airport and Oman's Muscat International Airport. A list of all winners is available HERE “The Airport Service Quality Awards represent the highest possible recognition for airport operators around the world and recognize excellence in customer experience,” ACI world director general Angela Gittens said. “The awards this year have been won by a diverse group of winning airports from around the world which illustrates the industry-wide commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience. “Delivering a better customer experience is an important business strategy in an increasingly competitive airport industry."
