AirAsia X will return to Perth from November 1 with one-way economy fares to Kuala Lumpur from A$209.

The three-times-weekly service will operate on Friday, Sunday and Monday with Airbus A330 aircraft.

The airline is also announcing its return to Melbourne and Auckland, also from November 1.

These three key routes boost the airline’s growth plans with 13-routes set to be operating this year, including Sydney, New Delhi, Seoul, Tokyo, Sapporo, Osaka and Honolulu as well as London, Dubai and Istanbul.

The services to Perth, Melbourne and Auckland will increase to daily by the end of the first quarter on 2023.

As well as the promotional $209 one-way economy fare the airline also has a $1099 one-way fare from Perth to KL for its Premium Flatbed.

Promotional fares from Melbourne are A$359 and NZ$499 from Auckland in Economy and from A$1,999 from Melbourne and NZ$1,999 from Auckland on a Premium Flatbed.

Booking period from now until July 24, 2022, for travel period between November 1, 2022, and March
26, 2023. All-in fares include airport tax, fuel surcharge and other applicable fees. Terms and conditions apply.

AirAsia X chief executive Benyamin Ismail said: “We are thrilled to recommence our services to Australia and New Zealand as a core part of our expansion strategy with our famous great value fares for medium to long-haul travel.

“In 2019, we flew over a million guests to both countries, which shows that Australia and New Zealand are important markets for us and we connected the same number of Australians and New Zealanders to Malaysia and across ASEAN.

“After a two-year hiatus, we are back stronger than ever and proud to renew our commitment to making medium to long-haul air travel affordable once again for everyone in this region as well as across ASEAN.

“As the world reopens and travel restrictions ease, we are confident these new services will prove popular.

“Importantly with over a dozen routes in our network this year, our valued guests with outstanding credit will be able to use their travel vouchers to book future travel to many exciting destinations with us.

Perth Airport chief executive Officer Kevin Brown said that the recovery of Western Australia’s aviation sector has been given another boost with the return of AirAsia X.

“We’ve been working hard with our airline partners to rebuild international connections and AirAsia X services to Kuala Lumpur provide another link to Malaysia and onwards.”
