Flew from Paris to Ho Chi Minh City, very pleased with everything the airline offered. Hospitable and lovely cabin crew, and the food was more than delicious for economy, even the amenities onboard we’re a plus. Would definitely fly them again if going to Asia.

We requested a lastminute cancellation & refund for 2 tickets. They responded immediately. Within hours we were able to apply for the refund, a small cancellation fee & all monies were returned. Prompt & excellent service. We have flown with them & service was great.

Recently, there have been far too many flight delays. In particular, it seems that flights are being rescheduled or substituted — sometimes I’m reassigned to a flight departing four hours later. This makes it impossible to plan trips properly, and I’m often forced to change my schedule. It doesn’t appear to be due to weather conditions; rather, it seems the airline is making these changes for operational reasons.

Avoid at all costs, this outfit is pretending to be an airline, it falls very short of providing a real service overall and not impressed with their safety standards and practices. Delays are not announced, when challenged they lie and avoid the issue etc. My flight was from SGN to Phu Quoc, a short flight. The outbound flight was delayed, no announcement. When finally on board they safety was questonable. They allowed a 13 year old girl clutching a soft toy to sit at the emergency exit. I challenged this ( I been an airline pilot for 42 years). Was met with distaste and told this is ok with company policy. My return flight was delayed by initially a couple hours which meant we would have missed our connection in SGN, so I bought another ticket with a different carrier so as to make my connection. Later I checked and my original flight departe more than 5 hours late which meant I would have been stranded in SGN for at least 24 hours. Now the insurance that I bought for such situations refuses to pay up.. the insurance PVI insurance.. So stay away from Vietnam airlines.

I'll try to keep it brief due to word limit. Horrible staff at all counters (home country and during transit in vietnam). Cited my first and last name werent enough on the ticket and when I asked for assistance at the very start to amend it because my passport was there for them to access and verify, was told that the main vietnam office has to handle it. I said alright, and when I reached the layover in vietnam, staff said the staff at Singapore(home country) should have handled it, and refused to help. Instead made me sign a waiver that if the destination country did not accept me I would be responsible for all charges of me being deported home. No compassion or care at all from the staff. Japan let me in without a hitch. Vietnam made not having my middle and chinese names such a huge deal it was SO stressful. Also luggage was beat up when received.

Great staff, great food but who designed the Business Class seat? It's bizarre - I'm 6ft (183cm) and the end of the tunnel where your feet go arrive into a point squashing your feet together? Most business class footwells are square (naturally). Anyone taller would struggle to sleep. This was either a space grabbing move by VA or designed by someone around 5ft tall. As a result I wont be booking them again.

Vietnam Airlines flight booked for 24 June 2020 was twice changed by airline, including changing the date, and then completely cancelled. Vietnam Airlines initially offered about half of fee paid. I reluctantly accepted this offer, but now the airline just refuses to respond to emails asking for an update. Relatively small amount of money involved, but it is the principle. I cannot recommend Vietnam Airlines based upon this service.

Unfortunately having a terrible experience with this airline. I work in the travel industry in Australia and the communication with the staff has been awful. Slow to respond (if ever) and avoiding the refund of my tickets. The issue has been ongoing for 5 months now, before the Corona Virus was even a major issue. I booked online which in their policies, says you can get a refund. I normally am super positive and like to support the travel industry in as many ways possible, however my experience here has been nothing but terrible. The airline still holds $2600 of my money after acknowledging they would refund me. They are just delaying the process. Will not be recommending Vietnam Airlines to any of my clients travelling to Asia. They may have got $2600 out of me but they will lose so much more business moving forward due to the way they are handling their clients in times of crises. I was sympathetic and very patient with them, but now when I require a little bit back from them, even just an email of communication, it is ignored. Poor form VN.

I had a very bad experience with Vietnam airlines. First of all, they don't provide baggage transfer if you are traveling joint fly. In my case it was Phu Quock - Ho Chi Minh - Singapore. Second and most important if you are traveling with somebody you can't join your baggage limits. I have travelled with my wife from ho chi minh to Singapore, so we had 20+20kg baggage limit. Our baggage was 30 kg in one bag and they force us to split our one bag to two bags which weight don't exceed 20kg. The funny thing is that for the same day flight from Phu Quock to ho chi min they allowed to join our limits and we had no problem.

I experienced despicable and demeaning behaviour on NYE at the Hoh Chih Minh airport. Your attendance staff for the flight to Siem Reap were rude, racist and disrespectful to me and my family. Your customer service is poor and you show no concern and any help. All your staff did was spread lies and misinformation pass on the responsibility to the higher ups and smile. If it wasn’t for the support of other people flying with me I wouldn’t have flown and gotten to my destination. This behaviour was applied to other people flying as well and it was overall a demeaning experience for everyone on the flight. Shame on Vietnam airlines staff and the whole organisation for your behaviour during this whole traumatic experience on NYE. Instead of convincing people to sign up for lotus smiles how about you focus on customer service and do the basics stuff.if#poorcustomerservice #rude #airlinefromhell #

The worse airline by far that we have flown with. They sent us a change of flight time TWO DAYS before departure (Singapore - Frankfurt) by 2.5 hours earlier! We do not live in Singapore therefore we naturally had pre-booked weeks before a different flight into Singapore, arriving at approx. 3 hours before our original connecting flight with Vietnam Airlines. The gap then didn't allow for 2.5 hours of flight change time. Trying to contact VA by phone is a futile effort. Their automated phone system goes in a loop in Vietnamese. I then called up Singapore airport and asked to be transferred to Vietnam Airlines check in counter - Still didn't get a hold of anyone. Singapore then suggested I contact them via FB chat. If I can gouge my eyes out it would have been less painful... They kept insisting that the flight time didn't change even after I sent them screen shots after screen shots of email confirmation notification of change time. After 2.5/3 hours, they admit they did change the time. And the answer for that was - we are sorry for the inconvenience. No offer to cover the cost of our new flight. Unbelievable!

Vietnam Airlines charged my partner and I am extra £420 in “rerouting” fees to get back home because instead of taking the Saigon to Hanoi flight we had booked, we each bought 2 extra flights with Vietnam Airlines to stop in Da Nang. We feel ripped off from the expensive fees. There was no real explanation for the fee except pay it or don’t fly home. They haven’t responded to our emails since.

Booked a flight from Melbourne to Nha Trang, including a 3 hour stopover in Ho Chi Minh City for my wife and I through VN airlines. They change my flight schedule on 2 occasions shortly after purchasing my ticket, the second flight change reducing my stopover time to only 1 hour, and also including an email from VN Airlines ask me to change to a 5am flight the next morning with an offer to pay for 1 night accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City, which i decline as I have already booked accommodation at my destination (5-star resort at $350/night). I am also very concerned as I am transferring from an international flight to a domestic flight which requires me to clear customs, collect my bags and then check in again. VN Airlines leave my schedule as is and advise that they will have staff on arrival to assist with my transfer. When i arrive VN airlines take almost 1 hour just to unload our luggage - The staff member on the ground who was supposed to assist is glued to her phone texting the entire time. Once we have our bags she leads us to the domestic terminal, tells us we've missed our flight, shrugs our shoulders and then walks off, forcing us to stay 1 night at an old, run-down hotel (couldn't even sleep due to the obscenely loud noises coming from the pipes in the walls) and forfeit the 1st night's accommodation at our destination. I've attempted to contact their customer service line for compensation for weeks now, as well as included all my supporting documentation (emails, boarding passes etc.). Each time I do their response is always words to the effect of "someone will get back to you", and then I never heard back. Completely disgusting.

It was a pleasant and comfortable flight depart from Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) to Seoul (Icheon) transit via Ho Chi Minh (Tan Son Nhat). Although there was a slight delay on the departure but the ground staffs manage to get every passenger on broad fast and efficient. Vietnam Airlines has proven themselves as a four star airlines with exceptional service provided. Friendly and efficient flight crews, good quality of food meals and equipped with latest new trendy A350 XWB aircraft! The aircraft ambiance was fascinating with larger screen and more leg room. The content selection was more than enough throughout the flight. This was my first time fly with VA and I'm quite impress with their product and services provided with that competitive price. May consider travel with VA again for long haul flights as their transit flight takes about 2 hour only. Thumbs up for VA.

The most awful flight ever, the seats are really uncomfortable and leg room less than other flights. Light and entertainment controls are on the armrest, meaning you cannot rest our arm there, that is if the entertainment tablet works (mine did not work on the way to Saigon, my husbands didn't work on the return trip.) the food was simply awful, I could not eat the breakfast, an omelette which was liquid and uncooked on the top. At one stage during the night, oxygen seemed too low. I will never fly Vietnam airlines again.

Never again! Fly from Hanoi from Hue, they changed flight schedule twice after we booked the tickets. At the airport, the cancelled the flight due to "weather", while google, weather info and we and friend from both cities confirmed 100% perfect, they basically lied using weather as an excuse not responsible for anything, ground staff are unprofessional, since this is state owned airlines.

I was flagged at the gate and directed to the counter. They said I didn't have a visa to enter Vietnam, so they wouldn't allow me to board the flight. I showed them my reservation that I was a transit passenger (passing through Ho Chi Minh City to Taiwan) they finally agreed that I didn't need the visa. However, they became vindictive at this point. They proceeded to quiz me on my travel to Taiwan and how long I would be there. I've lived in Taiwan (as a foreigner) for awhile and have to travel every 90 days to renew my visa. I hadnt yet booked my next outbound flight as this had never been required. The counter told me that they couldn't allow me on the flight because I hadn't booked that flight yet. They showed me their screen justifying this statement, nowhere did it say "required" to prevent me from boarding. So in order to placate them, I tell them that I will book a flight right then and proceed to do so. I show them my two confirmation emails saying that I booked and paid. They next tell me they need the ticket number, I didn't receive that information until just before boarding ended, and even then they stalled me unnecessarily until the very last moments. Never again.

I flew with my 1 year old baby direct from Melbourne to Vietnam and back. For both flights the flight attendants were rude, unhelpful and unfriendly. First I had to argue about taking my Yoyo Babyzen stroller onto the plane, they refused to listen to me explain that once folded it fits in the overhead carrier. I was frustrated and took my baby out of the stroller and folded the stroller in front of them before they finally let us pass. Not the best experience when I'm juggling multiple bags and a baby. Then during the flight while holding my baby, the attendant came to attach the bassinet onto the wall. Instead of moving my nappy bag on the floor which was NOT even in her way for me, she made me move it. It felt like she was just enjoying her little power-trip. Then later when I asked one of them to heat up my baby's milk for the feed as the plane descends, he replied he doesn't work here (referring to the economy class) and told me to ask the others. I see now what my husband meant when he said "don't expect much help from the flight attendants on Vietnam Airlines".

Congratulations to Vietnam Airlines for your ecxceptional service. We were unfortunate not to be able to land in HCM city on the first day of our trip. We hovered for an hour then had to land in Phom Phen to refuel. Once finally arriving in HCM some 4 hours late and all connecting passengers had missed their connecting flights inclucding the party of 4 l was travelling with. We were treated like royality, luggage retreived which had been booked through to Phom Phen, we were transported to a hotel for an overnight stay, provided with a meal and collected the next morning. Do not fly Vietnam airlines. You will not be able to book in on line. You will q for hours. You will wait for luggage for hours. You will watch meat and fish being delivered in boxes from Australia while wondering where your priority luggage is. Try calling them before you fly and you will get an idea. I think I have flown in n about 20 or more airlines and this is the worst.

We flew to Vietnam economy, and did three internal flights as well - all quite satisfactory. For the overnight flight back to Sydney, we thought we'd be kind to our middle aged bodies and pay $400 each extra for premium economy. What a colossal waste of money. The only evident benefit was a priority baggage tag. We were in bulk head seats in the cabin right behind business class, so lots of leg room and quick exit. BUT - old economy class seat, about 20cm recline, no footrest, economy amenities, food land beverages. So, very expensive bulkhead seats and priority tags. Don't do it.

Pathetic... Bought a business class ticket from HCMC to Tokyo, waited in line for 20min while they cleared out 50-60 economy passengers. Irony was my line was "Sky Priority". Last trip the plane left over an hour late, in spite of the flight originating in HCMC, basically they had to replace planes and in spite of being a major hub at a smallish airport it took well over an hour to accomplish. Lounge was bad, food/drink was worse. Price of the ticket was reasonably low so I guess I got what I paid for... Vietnam Air you stink!

A possibility of reserving seats while booking a flight would have been a great, but you may do so during online check-in 24 hours prior to boarding. Also good if the online check-in is possible 48 prior to departure as some travel way many hours prior. Our flight from HCM to Hanoi was excellent, not much fancy but good legroom, clean aircraft, good service and on-time. Reading all reviews this came in as a surprise, the return journey was as good on an older plane. Food was also excellent and the overall experience was fantastic. There are a lot of restaurants inside the airport for those who have traveled for many hours into HCM and Hanoi, so no need to wander around elsewhere near the airport. The domestic airport is a tad busy and can get a bit noisy in the budget airlines section.

Melb - HCM - Paris return. Pre-flight: The availability of online check-in would have been a great help. The check-in at airport made up for it and was fast and smooth. Boarding gate information changed a number of times and had to "rush" from gate to gate. Flight: Smooth flight with reasonable IFE and meals. Helpful attendants making pleasant flight. Comfortable leg room and flights were mostly on time. Layover in HCM City : Not the most pleasant experience. VN needs to work on the slightly better ground arrangements for passengers that accepts a 15 hours layover. Whilst we knew the length of the layover, we were unprepared for the minimal availability of facilities at the airport. Ground staff not very helpful. The Daisy Lounge could do with some improvements with passengers allowed to purchase food above the allocated soft drink, 1 meal and a dessert. The canteen style layout and service negates the higher level of service provided during flights and is of a very low standard. Providing some recliners in the lounge would help with the long layover. Overall, I would fly with VN again but NEVER with a layover in HCM City.

Flew from Sydney to Siem Reap and back. Trip to SR was a daytime flight (10am). After serving lunch the attendants disappear...and they turn all the lights off as if it is an overnight flight (!??!). My husband and I both asked separately (twice each) for a drink, but all times this was ignored with an abrupt "later!" "Later" never came. So, on an 8 hour daytime flight all we got was half a glass of water and some weak cold coffee. The trip home was worse still - screaming children with mothers that didn't care - I'm a grandmother, so I can certainly tell the difference between tired/upset and just plain naughty! The attendants must be deaf, as the mothers only quietened their children when another passenger had had enough and called out for them to control their children! Same situation again with any liquid refreshment. On both flights the seats were quite uncomfortable, and the planes were quite old and grubby. On the return journey the in flight entertainment system wasn't working either. It's the age old story...you get what you pay for. The tickets were cheap, but not that cheap. Next time I will pay a little more and go with a value added airline.

Lack of information about departure time and no option to check-in online despite the service supposedly being available for both flights to and from Sydney. Old, tired plane, shabby, rubbish left in the seat backs. Cabin crew not overly helpful, except for one hostie who arranged a seat change due to a broken entertainment system - only to receive another broken entertainment system. And seriously, where do the crew go when they are not serving meals? A gentleman collapsed in the aisle and it took over 5 minutes to summon an attendant, who did not see the man lying on the floor and nearly stepped on him. Luckily other passengers came to his assistance before any cabin crew help arrived. On return flight passengers were not checked for seat belts on landing - passengers opposite were asleep and left sleeping without seat belts fastened. Meals were OK though.

Travelled as part of a tour group. Flight from LHR to Hanoi was fine and seemed to be full. ~Diverted to Da Nang for 5 hours due to bad weather which is not their fault. What is though is leaving us in a closed terminal for several hours. The flight from HCMC to LHR was not as good. Out of 30 seats in Premium Economy 3 were broken and could not be used forcing people to be seated apart. Only thing offered was next day's flight-not really acceptable. Where do the aircrew go? After meal served you just didn't see them again until the next meal. There was no interaction between them and passengers, not the standard of hospitality expected. Also upgrade did not offer value for money. Only got a wider seat and more leg room. No upgrade of food or service other airlines offer - very poor. Took 7 flights with this company during holiday and I don't think one of them left on time. None of the delays were massive but we were not advised at any point that flights were going to be delayed. Really bad customer service. I see by other reviews that the same things are complained about time and again and that nothing gets done about it.
