We flew Air China Mar 18 - Apr 3: New York JFK - Bangkok (Beijing layover). It was a BARGAIN at $718.20 pp round trip (inc taxes). it was $100 cheaper to buy it on Travelocity than directly through Air China. OUTBOUND We paid another $150 each for economy plus for the outbound flight (JFK-Beijing). I'm really tall - 6'6" with a 36" inseam and you get loads of extra legroom for the upgrade. It's very worth it! You'll need to buy the upgrade at the airport, as it won't be available online during check-in. RETURN The ticket agent in Bangkok really helped us out and gave us emergency row seating at no extra cost for the return leg, Beijing-JFK. We wanted to buy the upgrade to economy plus but the system wouldn't let her sell the upgrade from Bangkok for the Beijing 2nd flight. I appealed to her about my height and she hooked us up! We had standard economy seating for the 1st return leg, which was just fine for the 5 hour flight even with my 36" inseam. SERVICE Service on the plane was fine. It's more "professional" than "friendly". Certainly decent enough. There's a nice beverage area setup with unlimited coffee, hot water, tea, etc. I rather liked the dehydrated egg/s
