I have used Ryanair many times since 2006 and have found them acceptable. Last trip was in 2015. As long as one knows and understands their rules, they are good. Their bad reviews seem to come from people that do not read the booking website rules. One must pay attention or you end up being angry and paying more. They are a reliable airline to get you from point A to point B, usually on time and safe. Most flights are less than 3 hours so you really don't need meals. Seats do not recline which to me is perfect on short flights. And now one does get a assigned seat which is better than the old "free for all" seating method. I would recommend using them, but one must read and understand their terms and conditions.
