Economy Class

Traveled with my family on Jetstar's 8am flight from Melbourne to Newcastle on Monday. The landing was aborted because the pilots were unable to see the runway due to low cloud. Fair enough, despite the weather looking ok and city lights clearly visable. Safety procedures are there for a reason. Circled for a fair amount of time only be then told that fuel levels were now at the stage of having to divert and land at Sydney instead. Inconvenient but again fair enough. What happened from there clearly demonstrated Jetstar's total incompetence to deal with this situation. Jetstar was attempting to hire a coach to drive passenger's back to Newcastle, however they COULD NOT GUARANTEE that. Approaching midnight most passengers felt there was no other way than to personally hire cars to get home. Jetstar showed no real concern to their passengers and were not informative. However Jetstar were very prompt with one thing in particular - advising their passengers that they would not reimburse any costs. As I was about to drive off in a hire car another Jetstar employee arrived and addressed the remaining crowd with, "Welcome to Sydney.........." Enough for me to consider another airline.
