I have flown Ryanair many times. This one was to Malaga and return. They've always been on time, except once coming back from Venice, when they were delayed by two hours. This was in fog and no other airline was flying at all. I assume it was safe as no pilot would take safety risks. I only once ever got caught by one of Mr O'Leary's "tricks" - the insurance buy-in that's hidden in the "country of origin" box. I always print off multiple copies of boarding passes in case of loss, and in the old days when he charged a phenomenal markup for using a debit card, I used to buy gift vouchers which didn't attract an extra charge. In all I saw it as a challenge to make sure I didn't get caught out. I didn't like the way he used to describe a flight as "Vienna" when it was really Bratislava, or "Barcelona" when it was really Girona or Reus, but he's more or less stopped that now. I've got to say the fares are dearer now, because the careful traveller is no longer subsidissed by all the naive ones paying extra. If you want to put Ryanair in perspective, try flying Wizzair. I would give them 8/10 if it wasn't for the feeling that its such a battle to avoid being surcharged. BTW, never ever get even one letter of a name wrong on the boarding pass. It's got to be exactly as it is on the passport or you'll be landed with over £100 name change fee. If it's a return that will be £200 - cheaper to buy a new ticket. Costs £5 for a name change with BA, and free with many other "proper" airlines.
