I booked Albania to UK flying Austrian. I received a booking confirmation. Checked status of CC later, saw £2113 duly requested. At airport 2am for the 4.30am flight. Told booking cancelled by Austrian. Why did I not received a phone call or an email telling me. (that’s customer service) They had both. CS were completely unhelpful, told me ‘surprisingly’ that I was able to use same card to pay for 3 new tickets, which was 200€ more expensive as only option. Trying to use the card again blocked the card. Returned to Tirana at 4.30am with young children. My wife flew without me. Next flight because of Easter 4 days later. Took first available flight home to a different airport. I have spoken to one of their employees who I know quite well to find that it fact, I was declined tickets through an algorithm for fraudulent ticketing. It should have been followed up. Simple check would have revealed my wife, same surname, address & frequent flyer was also booked same flight, business. I cannot in all honesty recommend Austrian Air in any shape or form. I am not the first with the exact same issue, reading other complaint sites.
