Based on several years of flying domestically. Vietnam Airlines has a bad habit of cancelling flights on busy routes (eg SGN-HAN) if the flight is lightly booked. The poor passengers are then booked later in the day but not usually on the next available flight. Getting on the next flight often involves a long and unpleasant confrontation with customer service. Most airports strictly enforce a policy that you must show the credit card used to purchase your ticket to check in for their flights. If you forgot your card or it was lost or expired you'll have to buy a new ticket at a higher price and then wait several weeks for a refund for your first ticket (not an easy process). Most commonly sold tickets do not qualify for frequent flyer mileage accumulation and finding out in advance if your ticket does or doesn't qualify is like pulling teeth. All in all if there's another airline flying the same route at a convenient time, I'd usually take it.
