Vietnam Airlines review by Rhys 2013-06-13

I've flown on Vietnam Airlines on many occasions. They are not a bad airline. The planes are relatively new which gives you confidence and there are so many flying that you have the flexibility of flights when travelling between cities. They do however have a habit of cancelling a flight at the last minute if it doesn't appear to have enough passengers. This can be a problem if other flights are full. This happened to me on a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. The staff at the airport were fairly disinterested in trying to sort another flight so I did all the running around myself and ended up on a flight that stopped in Da Lat. Quite an experience as we all got off and stood on the tarmac and waved to the pilot who was hanging his head out the window. A Russian pilot no less. The service on the planes is basic, flights completely chocker-block with passengers and its usually only peanuts and drinks handed out but the flights tend to be fairly short so that doesn't matter too much. All in all a reasonable airline.
