Been flying klm since late 90's. They used to be a good legacy airline. Good planes, decent and efficient service, always on time. Their food was never an affair to remember, rather the definition of "airplane food". Fast forward to recent years. Incompetent or rude staff, meals are a joke. On short haul, their snacks are an insult. Entertainment system is faring at the bottom of industry's standard. Still ok at staying on time. What bothers excessively is their unparalleled ability to mess up the checked in luggage during the stop over in AMS's Schipol. Cca 1 in every 3 flights I had with klm they failed to deliver the bags at destination. I also heard friends -who fly far less frequently than myself and only occassionaly on klm - encountering the same problem. Even if klm is visibly cheaper than some competitors on US and SE Asia fares, we chose to fly with the competition in order to avoid the mishaps and 'the cheapness' that had sadly become the hallmark of klm. When a company systematically fails to deliver against minimal targets it's time to shut down. Clearly, not recommended.
