Economy Class

This could be a good airline, but I've been completely flabbergasted by their response to a concern I expressed recently. On a return flight out of Copenhagen, my flight was delayed at the gate because they could not get the engines started. I've been in situations like this before. It's not common, but it does happen. In most instances, the flight crew goes out of their way to make people comfortable during the long wait in the plane. I've been in planes that were very cold, and the flight crew served coffee and brought out blankets. In this case, the plane was hot. The flight crew did nothing. Another passenger expressed a concern that there were a number of infants, young children, and elderly on board and that they should server water. The flight crew member's response was, "They can come up and get water, if they want." I was shocked. So, I expressed my concerned about such reckless disregard for the welfare of the passengers to Norwegian Airlines. Their response was classic double speak and avoidance of the issue. A simple, "thanks for pointing out this issue" and "we'll take steps to assure that our flight crews never let this happen again" would have be wonderful statements. EDITORS COMMENT: This is a tough one as the airline don't have to hand out water to everyone until a certain amount of time has been spent on the ground. In addition to this, Norwegian, like most low cost carriers operate with a buy on board policy therefore they probably don't actually have enough water for every passenger to hand out such things. If you hand something out free then everyone will take - its human behavior but if people have to go and get something themselves then only those that really need it will go and get it and when there's not enough for everyone this seems like the best action to take. We believe that a low cost carrier in a delay that's not the airlines fault, should offer, at the normal charge, in flight beverage service then everyone gets served and can purchase a drink if they wish. If its the airlines issue, which this was, a complimentary something wouldn't hurt but aircraft safety must be the primary concern.
