Economy Class

I have had the pleasure to fly with Porter two times from Toronto (Billy Bishop-Toronto Island Airport) to Washington Dulles. The Island Airport is great--very comfortable with free coffee/ tea/ sodas as well as almonds. Free city newspapers are also available. So this is a very fine place to relax before the trip--many people use the free wi-fi connections to catch up on things before the flight. The airport is quite a but smaller than Toronto's Pearson Airport so getting through the check in is much less stressful and faster. Right now one has to take a short ferry ride from the mainland to the airport (free) but this is no problems. Sometime in 2015 an underground tunnel and moving walkway will be completed which will make entry to the airport even easier. Service is very pleasant on the plane with free drinks and some sort of snack. Most of the flights Porter offers are relatively short haul. The planes are modern turbo--in good condition and seem to be well maintained. One should expect a bit rougher and noisier ride than on a jet but this no big deal once you get use to it. All in all quite a good airline that is well managed. Porter is trying to get permission to start using small, quiet jets from the island airport but there seems to be some opposition from residents in the downtown core of the city. Nothing yet has be decided.
