HNL-MEL B788 Economy Class Having flown over in the old A330 I was in two minds about the B788 experience, new plane, heard lots of good and bad. Seating is 3x3x3 configuration except right at the back of Economy or in Business, the seats right at the back of Economy are blocked off for crew rest area. The place is big, and has a roomy feel, the windows are bigger, but the seating has little leg room, and once the person in front of you reclines there is hardly any space. But the service was nice, nothing flash and things like pre paid comfort packs were not given out. The IFE was problematic, needing reset twice, and then a number of pax who had paid had to wait for staff to "update data", however it is nice having the IFE in the seat back not on an iPad, and had a good selection of movies. But not loads. Meals were served quickly with a breakfast wrap, and lunch later on. The apple pie was the best I've had in ages! So apart from the seats, its a nice experience.
