We have flown Singapore Airlines when traveling internationally for over 20 years. There has been a considerable drop off in the level of service in recent years The most recent trip to Europe was a huge deterioration in service 3 of 4 sectors were particularly poor. The flight from Perth to Singapore had a crew that had obviously taken their grumpy pills before boarding, the attendants being noticeably curt, then again I have noticed this on crews that service the Perth route. The sector from Singapore to Frankfurt was as I remember Singapore Airlines friendly service with a smile, couldn't ask for more. On the return sector from Amsterdam to Singapore the service could only be described as horrific , e.g. a request for water had to be made several times and took 45 minutes, in mid flight fruit was offered however when it came to our row the fruit was all gone and we were offered a bag of chips instead! the crew appeared to be in a state of confusion most of the time and not interested in the passengers. The food was particularly poor on this sector, in 13 hours we got a light lunch after take off and breakfast just before landing(and they couldn't get that right). 10 hours between meals is a long time! Oh I forgot we were offered a bag of potato chips mid flight. The Singapore to Perth sector was all business like and curt as like the outgoing sector. On the upside the check in was still efficient at all sectors the flight crew did their job and got us to our destinations without any problems. The 777s used on all sectors were looking tired and in need of a refit on one sector the sound unit didn't function and on others there were intermittent faults
