I have flown KLM since I was a baby, EXCLUSIVELY, even when flying other airlines it has been airlines in the SkyTeam Group (Kenya Airways and Delta). But that is stopping, this christmas will be the last trip I EVER do with KLM. 1. When checking in online it told me I had the chance to bid on an upgrade (yeah, they don't even offer them to you anymore at a fixed price), so I decided to bid and won, but I get an email stating that I won the bid but not the seat, I was furious, because this has happened to me 3 trips in a row, and each time I contact customer support who do nothing but give me the same old story about "unexpected circumstances." 2. The new seating arrangement on the 777-200 was appauling (3-4-3, formerly 3-3-3), it has been like this for a few years and I have hated it each time, but the company pays so I guess I am on crappy KLM. The seats are incredibly narrow, and the padding extremely thin so 1 hour of continuous seating in those seats is the max I can bare before I need to get up and stretch my legs. The aisle is also narrower now, just wide enough for the trolly to fit, so it will be bumping into your shoulders and knees constantly, and so will everyone going to the lavatory, but I guess KLM doesn't care about comfort and only about how much money the can squeeze out of people. 3. In flight meal is decent, the same as it always is, it literally never changes especially not when travelling from Accra (Rice with chicken with gravy, this has been on the menu for at least 3 years), and as of my last flight they apparently don't give out the bag of nuts when they come round with the trolly to beat you up the first time, so even that tiny thing has been saved away to make the bottom line look better. In short KLM has become money hungry in recent years and I encourage EVERYONE to teach them a lesson that we will not tolerate their BS any more and stop flying with them, use ANY other option available to you. My whole family has flown with KLM for so many years and it used to be good, but now it is horrible. PS. The prices have also not gone down, they have actually increased greatly while airlines like Turkish airlines have reduced their prices, for example there is a 500 USD difference between a KLM and Turkish Airline ticket on my route 500!!! And from what I have been told turkish is about the same if not a bit better (seating wise) than KLM. Shame on you KLM.
