Economy Class

Booked a flight from Sydney to Canberra leaving at 14:25 on 24 February and built travel plans around that flight, including booking a different flight to get to Sydney and also attending a function at 18:00 in Canberra a couple of hours after arrival. On the morning of the flight I received a text saying the flight had been cancelled - no explanation. The only alternative was a flight leaving at 17.05 which would mean a 4 hour wait sitting in the Sydney terminal and I would also miss the beginning of the function I was to attend. Then, frustratingly, the 17.05 flight was delayed another 20 minutes, further delaying my attendance at the function in Canberra. Virgin claims to be a full service alternative to Qantas but there you hear of too are too many instances of these mishaps occurring and it is really not much better than a low cost carrier - certainly no real competition to Qantas.
