I flew Tokyo-Haneda to Frankfurt in November 2015. This was my first and hopefully last long-haul flight with Lufthansa. The staff was rude and incompetent - Check-in takes forever, and in case of issues, e.g. delays or missed connections, they have no idea what to do and you're basically on your own. The Economy cabin is very uncomfortable - very narrow seats, no footrest, and the person in front of you literally reclines into your face. It is not possible to work on this flight. The in-flight entertainment contained mostly old films on my route (2012 and older), and the headphones provided were the cheapest kind possible. They were too big to fit my head and kept falling down. Upon request if any alternatives were available, e.g. from the business cabin, the staff did not even make an effort and just declined. The poor service and cabin comfort is in stark contrast with ANA, which we used for our outbound leg. I will not be using Lufthansa for long haul anymore if at all avoidable.
