I fly AirAsia X a lot - about 30 flights per year. It is interesting to read many of the negative comments here. They are generally correct, but I think you need to understand AirAsia. If you expect it to be like Singapore Airlines you will hate it. If you are familiar with how they work, you will love them. So, some AA tips: - Always prebook the breakfast on an overnight flight (cheaper and you get more), but not any other meals (see what you feel like on the flight.) - Catering is only re-stocked in KL so if you are on a return flight to KL the food could have been on the plane for 24 hrs. Choose meals that will handle that and not dry out. (Stew yes, roast chicken NO) - Have some cash with you (RM) is best. - Avoid the back of the plane even if it looks empty online - they fill the plane from the back with group bookings at the last minute. - Buy the hot seat upgrade. I like row 7 on A330 or row 1 on A320 or exit row. Long haul it is about $50 and $10 on short trip. Because very few passengers pay the extra, you will usually have a spare seat next to you. It is the best value $50 you will spend. There are many others, but just remember it is a low cost airline. EDITORS COMMENT: Great advice - thanks for sharing
