This is Still one of the best airlines. I have been travelling by Singapore airlines for the last 20+ years to travel between San Francisco and Hyderabad. The in-flight service used to be excellent, but I still rate it today as very good. From San Francisco to Hyderabad, there is almost close to 10hr layover in Singapore and that is painful. I flew in December 2014 from Hyderabad to San Francisco by SQ 5473 and SQ 16. The in-flight service is very good, but I rate their airport check-in, boarding (at Singapore and Hong Kong), and reservations services to be mediocre. Everything is controlled by Singapore Airlines headquarters at Singapore. There is no clear process for their seat assignment or when they make them available--very poor. They use their subsidiary SilkAir to serve between Singapore and Hyderabad. They have quite confusing baggage rules between these two airlines, especially if you are a Star Alliance member. They published baggage rules on Singapore airlines website and depending on which agent you get to talk to, they will interpret them differently. Watch out!!!
