Flew Air Canada Toronto - Sydney return in business class on 777. They have "new" pod seats now in business class - much less comfortable than the older pod seats. Extremely uncomfortable as a matter of fact. Bed does not lie flat - it is lumpy and uncomfortable. And too short. I am only 5'10", and the bed was barely long enough for me; any taller and I would just not fit. The "new seatbelt" with the airbag included is impossible to sleep with; it's large and cumbersome. And finally, the table is fixed in place and cannot be folded down or collapsed to make room for sleeping. You cannot turn over or bend your knees without waking up, bringing the seat up, changing your position, and then putting the seat back down. If you fall asleep on your back, and sleep all night without turning over, or if you are a short, small person, this seat is tolerable. But I need to change positions and usually sleep on my side, and these new pods are extremely uncomfortable. Air Canada needs to totally replace them. I would not recommend the "new" business class pod seating for any overnight flight for an adult. On the other hand, the new large screens, the food and the service were excellent.
