Felt I should mention that I flew to Paris from Johannesburg on SAA. When I tried to confirm my return flight telephonically I was advised by the Paris SAA office that the person I wished to speak to was not available and to phone again. I did this a number of times unsuccessfully and decided to get to CDG Airport early. When there I asked inquiries where the check-in counter was to be told that SAA no longer flew to Paris and that Lufthansa were taking marooned SAA passengers. On approaching Lufthansa they declined to allow me onto their aircraft as they could not get confirmation from the SAA Paris office as it had closed down two weeks earlier. I eventually managed to get a seat on Air France who advised that the would be reimbursed by SAA. Since then I have and will never fly on an airline that cannot be bothered to advise passengers with return tickets that they no longer fly the return leg of their route.
