Premium Economy

YYZ to YVR. Upgraded to Premium Economy on a whim. There are pluses and minuses. The pluses are expedited security, second in line to board, reasonably comfortable seat, hot meal, some basic beverages and priority luggage. The food is not as good as business, there is not as much of it, the drinks cart is the economy cart. If you've been flying a long time, AC PE is basically economy from 1980, in other words some free food and you are not packed in like sardines. I think paying extra for a bulkhead seat on an economy flight would be just as good and if you really wanted a hot meal they will sell you a PE meal (if there are any leftover). As domestic carriers go, AC is pretty good, and pretty reasonable, and their biz class is quite good, one of the best in the Americas, but as with all North American airlines none can compete with Asia, the Middle East and Aus/NZ. Their cabin crew are a mixed bag of friendly, helpful and cheery crossed with bitter, sharp and discontent, and like a Christmas cracker, you never know which it will be.
