Economy Class

My flight was cancelled 3 1/2 hours before it was due to fly. I was made to wait another 7 hours before they provided me with an alternative flight. I asked if i could go on an indirect flight at an earlier time. They could do that but it would cost me another $235!! Why if there are seats available they could not transfer me to that flight?? Why is it better to have an empty seat on a flight rather than assist a passenger to arrive at their destination at an appropriate time? There is no flexibility or reasoning with Jetstar. Very poor customer service!!
