China Southern review by Traveler 2015-08-17

Vancouver - Guangzhou, transit to a Southeast Asia country. No immediate connecting flight and need to stay overnight in Guangzhou. China Southern provided free transit accommodation with buffet breakfast. For international travelers, they provide you with 4 star transit hotel. You cannot pre-determine which transit hotel. It's determined once you arrive at airport. They have staff that guide you to counter G9 (at departure hall), where they assign you the hotel (I requested 4-5 star hotel). May need to wait a little and a bus will take you to the hotel. I stayed at Baiyun International Convention Center (http://www.baiyuninternationalhotel.net), and H. J. Grand Hotel on return flight; pretty nice hotels. Airline service was good - regular water, and also provided me basic sandwich + orange juice (free) when I asked for something to eat in between meals. Airplane was Dreamliner 787 - new but fairly narrow seats (3+3+3 seats, common to most airlines nowadays). Most travellers are Chinese. Overall experience ok for the airfare, although it seems to be a new player in international scene and there are areas that they are not up to international stand yet (when there is flight delay).
