Air Canada review by B 2015-11-30

Booked on AC 180 from Vancouver to Toronto Nov 29 , arrived at the airport and found the flight cancelled and the best that could be offered was a flight to Montreal with connections. How a regular flight on a routine bread and butter route could be cancelled was beyond belief especially when there was another flight at the same time to Toronto with a different flight number. I had pre registered for boarding 24 hrs before and at the time did notice the plane which was likely a wide body 777 had numerous empty seats making me wonder if they had switched to a smaller aircraft leaving me high and dry with no seat and an over booked aircraft. I was told that the aircraft going was already full which made one wonder how could they sub in a smaller aircraft knowing that there would not be enough seats . Having flown to and from Toronto and Vancouver twice yearly for over 25 years mainly on this airlines main domestic competitor and never having been bumped made this incomprehensible. The best they could offer was to Montreal and then to Toronto adding an additional 3 hrs to the trip. In the end the 4.5 hr flight took 8.5 hrs to arrive plus 1.5 hrs waiting for my bags 10 hrs
