Air Canada review by Tim 2015-01-07

My wife was supposed to fly Montreal to Toronto to Minneapolis on 01/04/2015. Weather delays in Montreal caused her to miss her connection in Toronto. Weather is uncontrollable. Rude and unhelpful airline agents are another story. AC did nothing to assist passengers to rebook their flights during the 4 hours they sat on the tarmac in Montreal missing their connections. I stayed on hold from home for two hours and got through finally and got her on a later flight out of Toronto. Called her before I left for a 3 hour drive to Minneapolis to pick her up. An hour and a half later I turned around and went home because AC had cancelled the flight with no explanation after having told passengers there would be a "short delay". The worst came after the flight was cancelled. AC gave no intelligible directions to the passengers they had just stranded. When the gate agents were approached they simply told the stranded passengers they couldn't help and that they would need to leave the gate area - what they forgot to tell the stranded passengers is that it was IMPOSSIBLE TO LEAVE THE GATE AREA WITHOUT ASSISTANCE BECAUSE IT WAS A SECURE AREA. Finally an agent from another airline helped my wife and her small entourage at that point exit the gate area THROUGH A LOCKED DOOR - and return to the ticketing area where they had been told there would be AC agents waiting to assist them. What was actually waiting were 5 separate lines leading to 5 ticketing terminals with 5 EMPTY SEATS BEHIND THEM - no a single agent present. Had to use phones to rebook. 2 hour hold times. This airline endangers people's well being with their absolute lack of responsibility for their passengers after they strand them without notice. I'd rather walk than fly AC - they man not keep their promises to passengers, but I intend to keep this one. Never again - NEVER.
