Horrible customer service experience. I called to refund a study abroad ticket to China almost two months ahead of time. I was told that since the online ticket was "non-refundable", they could not refund my purchase even though I was no longer utilizing their service. They offered that I could use the amount as a credit, but with a $250 fee on top, but only within a year. The customer care rep, Denise, was rude, refusing to escalate or involve her supervisor directly, and told me I had one choice: give personal information and they'll contact me at a later date. She hung up on me when I asked for any employee identifying information to reference her. Air Canada seems to be inflexible and makes revenue by holding customers' capital hostage. I will NOT be flying with Air Canada again. EDITORS COMMENT: If you buy a non refundable ticket it is just that - for every airline not just Air Canada. The cheapest tickets have NO flexibility and to make changes costs money.
