Qatar Airways has expanded its collaboration with renowned Australian chef and restauranteur, George Calombaris, who has created a new Greek-inspired in-flight dining options for the airline.

Passengers can enjoy dishes from George’s world famous ‘The Press Club’ available to First and Business Class passengers traveling from Qatar Airways’ four gateways in Australia (Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney) to Doha, Qatar.

An economy hasn’t been left out with a creation in the works to debut in the first quarter of 2019.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “At Qatar Airways, we are committed to offering our passengers the finest cuisine in the sky. We are delighted to work with one of Australia’s best-loved chefs, George Calombaris, for the second time following the success of the limited run menu to commemorate the launch of our A380 service in Melbourne last year. We are excited to be able to bring Calombaris’ signature dishes to more Australian passengers this time around with our year-long partnership, and are certain his flair for creating dishes showcasing classic Greek flavors accompanied by fresh local produce will once again be a hit with our passengers.”

Mr. Calombaris said he is thrilled to work with Qatar Airways for the second consecutive year and make his cuisine available to more Australian passengers traveling with the airline.

“It is a privilege to work with a brand that is so committed to excellence, and I am honored that our partnership is continuing into 2018. We look forward to continuously surprise and delight passengers onboard with these delicious Greek-inspired dishes.”

The dishes bring together some of Australia’s best produce including Fraser Island Spanner Crab and are sensitive to key factors – such as the requirements of in-flight preparation and how altitude alters your taste buds.

Every quarter, new Calombaris’s signature dishes will be introduced and integrated with Qatar Airways’ menus.

Among the dishes making their debut on Qatar Airways flights is one of Calombaris’s personal favorites, Avgolemono (a classic Greek egg and lemon soup).

For the main courses, First and Business Class cabin passengers can choose between the Bastourma Beef short rib with onions and Potato a la grecque, or the lighter Fraser Island Crab with lemon marmalade and tabbouleh. The classic Greek moussaka also features in the new Greek-inspired menu.

And while offering some of the best food in the sky the airline has rolled what is arguably the best WiFi with its “Super Wifi” which its 10 times faster than the product it replaces.

Passengers who book online at qatarairways.com by November 16, 2018, receive complimentary unlimited Super Wifi on selected flights.

The system uses Inmarsat’s GX Aviation technology and is being progressively rolled out on all Boeing 777 aircraft and Airbus A350 aircraft in Qatar Airways’ fleet.

President of Inmarsat Aviation, Mr. Philip Balaam, said “Qatar Airways is renowned as one of the greatest innovators in global aviation with passengers being at the center of everything they do. We are delighted that they are now pioneering our game-changing GX Aviation in-flight broadband across the globe. This unprecedented service adds to the airline’s award-winning, five-star onboard experience by allowing passengers to seamlessly browse the internet, stream videos, check social media and more during flights.”

Inmarsat is the same high-tech provider selected by Qatar Airways for its space-based tracking system used to track all its flights worldwide.
