A Jet Airways Boeing 777-300, registration VT-JEX performing flight 9W-118 from Mumbai (India) to London Heathrow, (UK), was en-route at FL360 (36,000ft) about 20nm north of Cologne (Germany) when the aircraft was intercepted by two fighter aircraft due to loss of communication.

According to the website The Aviation Herald, the crew did not respond to any calls on assigned ATC frequencies and the emergency frequency.

The website said that following the intercept contact was established via the emergency frequency, the crew subsequently reported on the correct ATC frequency and continued to London for a safe landing.

Video was taken by pilot Mark Stewart.
