    In January 2016, I was part of group that volunteered to get off the flight to JFK fro J’Burg, in order to reduce the weight. We were promised many things, but in particular a FREE return ticket on South African Airlines.
    I just tried to book that flight and I was told the flight was free but I had to pay the taxes. So I asked what the taxes were. Answer $600 USD. That is half the value of the FREE ticket. Emirates Air is half the price of SA Air. Check it out.

    I have recently travelled with South African Airways from South Africa to Germany. While I was exceptionally skepitcal at fiest due to their terrible reputation with our country, they were the only airline with a direct flight at a good price.

    While the flight itself was fair, my in-flight entertainment system was broken. While I also understand that the unforseeable happens, I do believe that an airline should make up for its inconvenience. However, what has put me off completely about SAA, is my subequent dealings.

    I have send close to a dozen emails (either directly or via the website). While I’ll receive a confirmation of reception, I have received only one unsatisfacotyr reply and my response has been ignored. I have also contacted them numerous times again with urgent queries with regards to my return flight. Alas, they have not come back to me one. There is nothing more frustrating than a customar care service who couldn’t care leas about customers. Such a pity – I should’ve listened to the reviews I read prior to my flight and stayed away!

    Horrible.Was seated next to a morbidly obesed person.Was expected to climb over.Hold his breakfast because it could not fold down over his stomach.All the staff fretted over his comfort but I was ignored.Horrible
