Flew PER-SIN 18/9 and SIN-PER 25/9. Both flights were great with attentive crew. PER-SIN was on a new A350. Having been the last few trips on Scoot and Jetstar, it was nice to enjoy a full service airline. Lunch consisted of beef rendang with a delicious Maggie Beer ice cream for dessert. IFE system takes a little bit effort to get full use of it. Sometimes it only offered limited options for music and TV depending on your previous choice. SIN – PER was on Boeing 787. We took advantage of early checkin at Jewel Changi so we could have time to explore Jewel. Captain was awesome with giving updates during the flight. Even though both flights had great crews, I felt on this flight, crew were just a bit more efficient. Meal was a very delicious chicken in oyster sauce with a Singaporean local brand ice-cream for dessert. I had looked forward to watching part 2 to a series on the IFE that I had watched on my flight the week before but unfortunately could not find on this plane so maybe the IFE varies slightly on different planes.

PREMIUM ECONOMY Singapore to Newark, around 17 + hours. We purchased a RTW ticket. We took 4 Economy flights and 1 Premium Economy flight. We have no complaints about the 4 Economy flights.
Some aspects of PE flight were good but others very disappointing. Cabin, seating and entertainment were good but that is where PE ended. No champagne send off on our flight. No pre dinner drink at all.
Food was very ordinary and we were only offered 2 meals on this long flight. They did offer very plain snack food in between but it was pretty bad. Another complaint was the 12 hours of cabin darkness, just too long for most people. We have travelled PE 2 other times in recent years and they where great.
Only reason I would recommend this flight is time factor. 25 Hours from Perth to Newark.

Recently flew between Adelaide and Singapore on the medium haul 350/900. I have never felt so cramped on a medium haul flight. Once the seat in front is reclined you can hardly move. Anyone who is on the larger side will not be able to put their tray table fully down. The seats do not seem to have much padding. We did not get a meal or even a light snack on the night flight until breakfast. Queuing for the toilets is difficult due to the lack of space .
Some people would suggest if one isn’t happy then upgrade but not everyone can afford business class or even premium class.
We have always used Singapore Airlines but if we do not have to go through Singapore in future I doubt now that we will.
On a brighter note their long haul flights were very good but we have to take the medium haul leg as well when travelling to Europe.

Singapore Airlines services are very biased, though I flew on it a couple of times, it seems good services are given if and only if you are either from a western country or you have a wallet stashed with cash to fly Business Class which normally cost $6000 from SIN – MEL – SIN. Nothing impresses me, the IFE are old, they have yet to install touch screens on the aircraft.

Other airlines than Singapore Airlines have performed better, even Xiamen Airlines. Qantas does have better services in being updated with new IFE systems and movies.
