    Flight from New York in Dec 2015 was changed to depart 8 hrs later and airline does not contact its customers to let them know of the change nor was the delay announced anywhere, flight appeared to be on time until check in. This meant missing a connecting flight out of Santiago and missing a day with family. They offer no explanations or compensation. Friends flying with Lan have encountered the same exact thing and from other reviews it seems this is a constant practice. In flight experience was average, food normal airplane food.

    My first 787 flight (787-8). LAX to Santiago with stop in Lima, Beautiful plane, very comfortable flat bed, full width head to toe, so no feet crammed into a dark hole like other airlines. Great food, impeccable service, I rate the entire experience a 12 out of 10.

    I found tha LAN Dreamliner economy seat space to be far too tight. I am a frequent flyer but was close to claustrophobia on a dozen or so times during the flight to Auckland from Santiago. I actually refused all meals because it would have been two difficult to manipulate the tray etc. the entire flight with the seat in front pushing into my knees. I find the crew well intentioned but in general lacking in warmth.
    EDITORS COMMENT: LAN’s dreamliner has a 32inch seat pitch in economy which is fairly standard and in fact one inch more than other carriers operating on that same route and similar. A reclining seat, however can really make a difference the overall feeling of space or lack of it.

    I want to make a general review about LAN and its affiliates (e.g., LAN Peru, etc.). I have flown LAN many times to many places and I think it is certainly the best airline in Latin America and one of the best in the world. The planes are modern, generally on-time, good service, good pilots, good baggage service. Of course there can be bad experiences (see angry reviews), but this is generally an excellent airline. I do not work for LAN!

    Horrible. Callous. They endangered a group of people who were their CLIENTS.

    LAN cancelled the last flight out of Cuzco, Peru, and told their passengers they were on their own. Who were their passengers? A group of mostly monolingual English-speaking, vacationing passengers, who had hotel rooms waiting for them a 90-minute flight away in Lima, Peru, but not in Cuzco. Most passengers knew nobody in Cuzco, had no resources in Cuzco, and were without help in Cuzco. “Can you help get me a hotel?” was met with “No.” Over and over and over again. “The hotels we work with are full, and we can’t talk with other hotels.”

    LAN refused to help their clients, stranding them in a foreign city, late in the evening.

    And when I wrote to complain, nobody at the airline even bothered to acknowledge receipt of my email. I would avoid this airline at all costs – they’re horrible.
