Rescheduling, Refunding.. Even contacting scoot customer care is really difficult. Calls never connect. Low cost airlines with very cheap service.

This review is solely about the price Scoot charged me for a one way flight from Phuket to Perth last week. I was ill in Thailand and had to return home early. Scoot had no customer care or support at the airport – they gave me 3 different phone numbers to ring and none of them answered. Their email address also did not work as it would take up to 10 days to receive an answer. Next day, Scoot charged me 3 times the normal amount to return home. In total, I had to pay them 23,700 bahts to change my flight and in addition to the flight which I had originally booked and did not use – 7,800 bahts, I ended up 31,500 bahts poorer or AUS$1,278 for a one way flight to Perth from Phuket. Do not think about using this airline if you need to change your flights and it will be the first and last time I will ever use them.

We boarded our plane to Singapore and had to wait on board for 2 hours due to technical difficulties. The flight was then cancelled as there were not the appropriate staff or parts available to fix the issue, and the night time departure curfew had been reached in Sydney. We were told to disembark and return to the check-in counter. No scoot staff were present here. The call centre had no information either. We were going on this trip for a long weekend, so when they could not reschedule our flight until the day we were due to return, we were offered a refund for this one-way part of the flight. We had to re-book flights with another airline at the airport which Scoot then would not reimburse us for, or for the loss of pre-paid parking fees. We did have comprehensive travel insurance, however almost no policies on the market will cover for mechanical failure of an aircraft that leads to a delay or cancellation (which I didn’t know!). Scoot did not reschedule the flight for the next morning, communicate with any of the stranded passengers at the airport, or prove at all helpful in the months following when we tried over MANY phone calls to follow up. Don’t fly with this company. If they cancel your flight there is no skin off their nose – but you’ll have a costly nightmare on your hands – regardless of whether you have travel insurance or not.

Terrible experience. Flew Singapore to Sydney, pre-booked wifi and selected seat and paid for. When I arrived the plane had been changed and I didnt have the selected seat or wifi. No email or update on the change and when I asked staff to be relocated and have wifi they said I would have to repay and contact the airline. I contacted the airline 2 weeks ago via submission form and no response. I called the airline and all 3 calls dropped out at exactly the same point in the pre-recorded message. Awful, awful customer service. On board staff were abrupt and drinks – even water was ridiculously expensive, $4 for a tiny half bottle for water. No water could be carried on board as we had to discard bottles before entering the departure area. No free water provided at all, which is a basic human right. I paid for wifi on board (for the second time) as I had work to do and the wifi didnt work at all for the entire flight. Still waiting for a refund on that too.

Very bad experience! I just checked in online for a flight from Singapore to KL with Scoot for $39. Thought I give Scoot a chance again after having tried Scoot a few years back with average experience. Walked through the airport to the passport control when a very ambitious staff member run behind me and asked me to weigh my hand luggage. When we weighed it and it was 12kg (small hand luggage bag and a notebook bag), he told me I have to pay $40 for the 2kg. I couldn’t believe it. I told him I am not happy and he insisted. Listen Scoot I understand you are running a low cost airline, but this really just pisses people and me off big time. There are people that way 50kg more than I. Do you charge them extra? Have you ever heard of courtesy? This charge for 2(!)kg will cause the following: I will NEVER fly Scoot again. Promise. I will ensure that in our company across ASEAN with many consultants travelling we will never fly Scoot on the company again. I will share this experience with my professional network of 3,500 people on LinkedIn. Worth the $40? I leave that to you to decide. I don’t care about the $40 dollars, but the level of courtesy I have experienced by Scoot.
