Malaysia Airlines

The air plane was great and had a lot of leg room for economy class however the food and the service were terrible. Flew return from Sydney To Phuket and o both flights they ran our of chicken meal and only had fish which had a very bad smell to it. They also ran out of Coke. They serve water in tiny cups so you have to ask for 4 cups to be satisfied. I will never fly Malaysia air again.

Have flown the KUL-LHR route many times. In recent years the service gets worse and worse. Meals are almost always fish or chicken, no other meat seems to be served now. Towards the end of 2014 the catering company seemed to have changed and the food was worse than normal. I am not a fussy eater but I no longer enjoy MAS food.
They have plenty of alcohol on board but don’t really offer it, you have to ask for it.
On a long 13-14 hour flight there are 2 meals. In between they used to give good snacks, then those were changed a snack box, and by the end of 2014 snacks were really limited, all sweet with no savoury items.
There is a huge selection of films to watch – but nothing that really appealed to me.
My last flight was less than half full, but even so the crew seemed to disappear for much of the flight.
I only fly MAS now as it is soooo cheap.

Flew Malaysia from MEL to KL today. This is the first time I’ve flown this airline and as an already nervous flyer I had some anxiety about using this carrier. We flew a 777. I have to say the flight was just fine. Very genuinely friendly, polite and attentive service, excellent entertainment options (great movies and games etc…) and typical food. The flight was mostly smooth and it was on time. Only criticisms would be that the aircraft itself seemed dated and the girl in front of me’s seat wouldn’t stay upright. The positive thing is that the economy seats and legroom felt roomy. Screens a bit small. Otherwise just as one would typically expect. Thanks 🙂

From Kuala Lumpur to Auckland.
Dated plane – still had the ash trays in the arm rests.
Our family of 4 were allocated 4 seats in row 39 despite having purchased the tickets 11 months prior. We thought as Malaysian Airlines had had our money for this time we could have had better seats. The seats are the first row to drop from 5 seats to 4 seats at the back of the plane so the screens are not in front of you and the leg room is also limited. My daughters console was broken and falling out of the side of the seat. I had to hold the wire in my console to get the power to load a movie.
My husband and I were offered one alcoholic drink for the entire 10hr plus flight. In contrary we received a sizeable wine or boutique beer and cheese on the connecting 1hr 20min air New Zealand flight to Christchurch.
A disappointing long haul flight.
