We bought souvenirs (2 ebon giraffes) that we planned to transport as carry-on luggage, like we did many times before on our trips to Africa.

At the check in counter, we were told that it is not possible to take the souvenirs on board, they are too big, and that we need to check them in. We told the employee that the items are very fragile and very expensive, he told us that the airline now has separate containers for fragile items and guaranteed that the souvenirs will not be damaged. We reluctantly agreed as we were not presented with any other options.

On our arrival to Milan, we could immediately see that the package was ripped od several places and it was obvious that the items inside were broken.
This was certainly not an accidental drop, the item had to be thrown around at every chance.

Now, they do not plan to make any effort to resolve the issue, even though the damage occurred solely because we followed their employee demands and assurances against our wishes.

We travel to Africa 10 years in a row now, and we are definitely done with Ethiopian airlines.

Ethiopian Airlines is very OK. I used it to fly from Abuja to Addis Ababa, then Addis Ababa to Dubai. The cabin is well designed, spacious and comfortable. The staff are OK, but they need to make their smile a bit brighter. The food could be worked on, but its still better than that of most African airlines. I recommend Ethiopian to get around Africa, it’s the best out here.

I was 100% satisfied with the service I got, from the double security checks to landing, to all the service I got by very good looking and professional crew members in between. No wonder the airline is able to be successful and winner of so many awards.

I have travelled with Ethiopian Airlines – this is my second time. I don’t eat on flight usually (my choice), but I enjoy my tea while flying. During my flight, I requested for simple tea, the hostess actually was making fan of me, she demeaned me for asking for tea.
Second time – on a different flight with same airline, I requested for tea, the attender actually looked at me like I was asking some thing out of the ordinary, again I was not given one…
The rest of the services were good

We bought a ticket from Ethiopian airline two months out of our actual flight date(Actual Flight date is Jan 31st/2020). We bought 4 tickets for a family vacation and by mistake chose the wrong date. After buying the ticket we wanted to change the flight date to be 2 days later than the booked flight date, namely Feb 2nd/2020. To this request, Ethiopian Airlines is charging us what they call a cancellation fee of $300 per ticket which comes out to $1200 plus the price difference which they say is $130 per ticket. So, just to do a mere change of flight date, Ethiopian airlines is charging us a Total of $1720. I find this highly unethical and incredibly insensitive.
