Flew Economy
I am a 77 year old passenger on wheelchair. When I was on transit at TPE airport, after waiting for more than 3 1/2 hours, I asked the ground staff if they can wheel me to the boarding gate so that I can wait there. One of the ground staff young ladies told me that since I can still walk, I should walk there myself!!!! When I complained about her attitude at the transit counter, the other ground staff there told me that I can go and complain to the management about this! I’m not going to travel via China Airlines anymore if I need to transit in Taipei. The ground staff there are just too rude! I’ve heard that the ground staff of China Airlines in Taipei has bad attitude but I never expect them to treat an old man in wheel chair this way.

Flew Economy
First time flying with China Airlines direct Melbourne to Taipei (9 hours). Wasn’t expecting much so very pleasantly surprised, couldn’t fault in any way except for 20 minute delay on takeoff, no big deal. Loved that as soon as you sat on the plane you could watch movies, well before takeoff. Very comfortable, staff so lovely and food decent too. Definitely recommend.

Flew Economy
Our individual touch screens were incredibly difficult to manipulate and the toilet paper and paper towels ran out by the end of our 9 hour flights to and from Beijing from frankfurt. The stewardess’ seemed to wear a scowl most of the time other than exiting and they ran out of western food choices by mid plane where we sat on both legs leaving chinese pudding. And dinner choice was seafood with noodles or chicken and seafood with rice, so if seafood doesn’t sit well with you bring your own. They also changed our return flight from two hr layover to 14 then back to two hrs the day we checked in causing us to lose money on the booked hotel since they didn’t notify us the second time. A bit more spacious economy seats though. Movie choices were many but mostly chinese leaving little for such a long flight. Kids choices good though.

The flight was O.K. The seat didn’t recline but that was acceptable for a 45 min. flight from Kaohsiung to Taipei.

Flew Premium Economy
If you plan to you use an upgrade certificate on China Airlines, be prepared for a MAJOR runaround. They gave me dozens of excuses and even lied that their certificate couldn’t be used to upgrade from Premium Economy to Business. I finally used it to upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy. But I had to physically go into their office, tell them that I wouldn’t leave their office unless they honored the upgrade (and that they could have me arrested to get me out) until they finally caved and applied it. Just be warned that they have a different standard of business ethics.
