Avianca airline is the worst airline ever!!!!!
My friends and I had a connecting flight, Avianca knew our itinerary. We landed in Bogota and ran to catch our flight, making it with some time to spare Avianca closed the doors and would not let us board the plane.
They said they rescheduled our flight for 6am (it was midnight when we landed). It took them 3 hours to get our bags to us from the missed flight. We went to check in at 4am for the 6am flight and we were informed we werent on the flight and we needed to pay an extra $250.00USD each (4 in the group). We refused to pay as Avianca had shut the doors on us, we used our travel insurance to get Avianca to put us on the flight.
The phone call alone cost close to $100 but Avianca was not helpful at all.
We have since written avianca to tell them how bad our experience was and now they say there is no record of us flying with them.
Horrible customer service!!!!! I will never us them again.

AV640 GUA-LAX, 31 MAR 16 – I was flying on a Business Class ticket (BOG-LAX), and arrived at my GUA-LAX connection holding a Boarding Pass with a 2C seat assignment. I learned from the Gate Agent rather by accident, that I had been reseated to EC (7K). I showed her my ticket receipt and Boarding Pass, and insisted on the seat I’d selected and/or an explanation of what had happened in the Avianca back office . Her only response was that her supervisor would come to explain why I had been moved to EC while holding a BC ticket. I called my company’s travel office, who called Avianca. By boarding time, I had a new seat assignment in 1K, and I saw what appeared to be a couple in my originally booked and adjacent seats. Cultural differences (and possible gender bias) aside, I’m puzzled at how commercial global airline can expect to stay in business and treat even a small niche of customers so badly. This part of my Avianca flying experience unfortunately eclipsed the overall trip. The score of 3, (rather than 0) reflects an excellent (787) outbound flight, and wonderful in-flight crew customer service overall.

I flew from Lima, Peru to Buenos Aires on March 24 in flight AV967 and returned to Lima on March 28 on the flight AV966 and on both flights one of 2 bathrooms for 200 people did not work and the other had problems with the sinkt it was clogged, so I asked the crew because it was in these conditions and they said they had already reported the problem but no one to listen to them.

I flew from Costa Rica to Brazil and came initially from England. I had a plug converter in my checked baggage and they took it, so when I got to Brazil it was gone. I went to the customer service counter in the airport and they told me to file a claim online. I did so, and was told, basically, too bad, that electronics are not guaranteed to get where you are going. So my $45 converter they took was my problem. I have never had an airline confiscate anything like that. I think that is ridiculous, and uncalled for. They flight itself was fine and the attendants were friendly. But I want my things to actually arrive where I am going. And also, they pretty much blamed me for having electronics in my checked baggage. So I won’t be flying with them again.

Horrible service! They offer insurance to feel safe to make any changes to your filght.
So i booked the flight for my wife. Then i notice the returning flight time was wrong I tried to change it through insurance. The insurance negated my request for change of flight they stated that it was not a emeergeny situation. Please call avianca they said so i didi and they were charging me 275 dollars more to make the cahnge. They stated if it was an emergency they would be able to waive the fee. So Why do they offer insurance if they can do the changes like the insurance company? Now we are stuck with flight not knowing if my wife is able to make in time. This is the worst airline to deal with to go international.
