Our family has been flying with Alaska Air since 1978. There have been a few issues, not unlike other airlines. But Alaska always manages to handle and resolve the issue with class.
There is always a human voice on the phone, a smiling helpful employee at the gate, counter or the kiosk. There is always a polite answer to a question or a resolution to a problem. Gate departure and arrival gate numbers are posted promptly and correctly. We’ve never seen an overbooking problem.
We’ve seen flight attendants invite passengers to ‘sit where they like’ when the flight is less than half full (except for first class).
Comparing meal selection and service to other domestic and short haul international flights, Alaska is much better. Sometimes the food is the same, but still less expensive on Alaska. And we haven’t seen them run out of food (like other airlines).
They have a great product, and fantastic employees.

Good airline! Nice people, decent FF program, lots of opportunities to codeshare. Highly recommend them, especially out of PDX or SEA!

China Airlines (CA) lost my luggage and Alaska wasn’t even responsible for helping me get it but they still did! CA was virtually impossible to get a hold of, they lost all of my info multiple times and they would never call me back. When I enlisted Alaska’s help, they would follow up with me, keep me updated, kept records, and eventually were the ones that were able to retrieve my luggage! They rock!

I thought Alaska Airlines was a reputable airline until I canceled one of my flight reservations through them, and received a credit certificate to be used towards a new flight reservation. I went through the process of entering my certificate code and PIN number and then clicked to shop for a new flight to use my certificate on. Using the mobile app, when it came time to pay there was no area to put any certificate info down so I entered in my credit card info and purchased my flight assuming the certificate info I had previously entered would be applied. But the whole price was deducted from my credit card. I called customer service trying to work something out talking with multiple customer service agents along with a manager and I had the worst customer service experience. They could do NOTHING to help me. I have dealt with many airlines and they have always been very helpful and accommodating but Alaska Airlines was very unhelpful and told me they could do nothing for me. Safe to say I’ll never fly Alaska Airlines again after that horrible service.

While waiting for departure our plane was broken and needed a new part. Yes, they did get the part, fixed it and eventually got us there, but with no compensation, free drinks, etc. More of a aren’t-you-lucky-we-got-you-there attitude.

Then, to top it off, they ran out of food! BOTH WAYS! I hadn’t ever experienced a flight where they ran out of food, but with Alaska Air, they ran out of ALL OPTIONS, except for the little bags of pretzels. For a 5 hour flight to Hawaii, this was a big deal. The flight attendants said they only were supplied with about 50% of the food that is needed and there was nothing they could do about it.
