I just travelled w airnz frim akl to los angeles tigether w my husbabd abd my 6 month old baby girl however i hace to say i was really disappointed and it was very stressful as some of the staff were not helpful AT ALL. We aat down and we never got any advice on what to do or not never came to ask if we nededed anything or help w cleaning bottles etc and at the end they were offering wine and i ask for a glass since i was very stressed and the lady asked if i had a glass i said no and she said i will bring it back and am still waiting on my wine. Everytime i asked for things such as the Basinnet blankets water for my bottles etc it felt like a hassle. Very dissapointed however i will say i think it was more this person as some other crew staff were actually very nice i just hope on our way back its nuch better.
I have alot of friends w babies that have travelled w their babies in another aurlines and i have only heard good things so i was expecting high standards from airnz

I never write an airline review cause I mainly have a terrible experience but I loved Air New Zealand. I flew economy from LAX to Heathrow and have flown KLM and United the same trip and would take this over them anyday. Service is exceptional and personal. That includes crew and flight attendants. I had a special meal request of healthy which they provided and was quite good. Morning scones were fantastic! One of my flight attendants kept asking me if I was satisfied with my meal and happy to change anything if needed.
Great blankets that actually are a blanket and not a sheet. Typical leg room. Tons of movie and TV selections. Flight attendants always there to provide water or drinks when needed. The service overall was exceptional and for flying economy internationally this was the best economy I’ve taken.

Dunedin to Rarotonga Economy 25 October 2015

Domestic flights typical Air NZ: no entertainment, expensive cattle class.

AKL-RAR flights: tired, old 767 both ways. Entertainment system very poor, dated offerings. Seats worn and uncomfortable. No air vents, warm and stuffy the whole way.

Bought “the Works” to get a meal. Told curried chicken was only meal available. Hate curry, allergic to it. When I asked for something else was rudely asked if I would like a bread roll.

Getting a drink was near impossible. Asked for second drink, steward told me I no because we were landing in 25 minutes and “the bar is now closed.” The seat back indicated the flight would land in 54 minutes, but no go.

No beverage, so I went to use the toilet. Saw the entire cabin crew in galley feasting on a number of dishes, no curried chicken. The crew were dining off the “premium economy” menu with gourmet meals.

Air NZ is now just another no-frills budget airline. Unless you’re flying 1st or biz class, then you receive all of the amenities denied to those in economy.

One of the worst flying experiences ever. Look into other offerings before flying on Air NZs tired old planes with grumpy cabin crews.

Hi, to whom this may concern: i would like to Commend Ashleigh @ the Air NZ Help desk Auckland International Airport. Her committment in assisting an Elderly Gent I was late to dropoff
@ AIAL, it was with much appreciation that with Her very quick Professional Assistance to help this Gent (in his Eighties) it was also a great relief to be advised by Her I could leave Him & She would take good care of assisting Him with his flight departure process! Ashleigh deserves the full 5 Stars *****plus with Her Care & Committment. Thank You Again Ashleigh!

    Sincerely
    “young” Les

They’re a wonderful airline to fly with – flew SFO-AKL and back. On the outbound, we were on the older 777-200s, which had comfortable seats in 9-across configuration but had an entertainment system that was what I’d last seen on Cathay Pacific a decade ago. On the return, we were on a 777-300ER with the wonderful new cabin, though in 10-across.

Food is very tasty, but the portions are very small; it’s almost like Air New Zealand computed the minimum to serve to keep passengers from getting too hungry and served that. In-flight service is excellent, among the best I’ve had. One nice touch: my outbound was on Dec 31, and they surprised everyone with a little bubbly to ring in the new year. As this was an overnight flight, they had a nice plan to let people celebrate without disturbing the majority of the passengers.

One strange thing: check-in closes three hours prior to departure. (I was on a ticket where I could not check in online.)

EDITORS COMMENT: And this is why they won our airline of the year award 2014/2015 – an excellent airline
