Flew Economy
I was travelling from Hong Kong to Auckland, a rout I do every couple of months.
On this occasion I was booked on Air New Zealand, not my usual choice.
As soon as we took off it became apparent why I don’t usually fly with them. the in-flight entertainment was poor, the service was poor, the seats were uncomfortable and the meal choices were unimaginative and not at all enjoyable.
will not fly with them again.

Excellent service on my Wellington-Dunedin flight. I began feeling quite unwell prior to boarding the plane, and mentioned this to the air hostess as I boarded in the hope that there would be a spare seat in the back of the plane near the bathroom.
I received service well beyond what was expected from the hostesses, who brought me water, checked on me to see how I was feeling regularly and, during a period where I felt particularly unwell, let me sit in the hostess jump seat right beside the bathroom door.
They were professional, caring, and made a flight that could have been awful, very bearable. A+ service.
EDITORS COMMENT: Wow that is excellent service – not that we expect anything less from ANZ – they are superb.

I flew to Christchurch from LAX over the holidays, my first trip on Air New Zealand. After flying home on Virgin Australia, I’m even more appreciative of my experience with ANZ.
I flew in Economy, with a preferred seat (58A). This seat is one from the three rows in the back of the plane which are 2 seats across instead of 3. There was a bit of extra storage due to the curvature of the plane, and I was really impressed with the leg room. I’m 5’9″, and had at least two inches to spare. I could comfortably nest into my seat with the pillow and fleecy blanket provided, and slept very well. There were so many great movies to choose from when I woke up (far better selection than VA, in my opinion). The food was alright, and was served with a smile.
Service was amazing. From check-in through arriving gate crews, everyone served with a smile and nice things to say. I appreciated the cheerful attitudes so much, especially when my flight experienced a delay leaving LAX and I had to dash through Auckland for a connection. Everyone was very helpful the entire way through, and I made my connection without a problem.
I would fly Air New Zealand again in a heartbeat!

Flew from Auckland to Hong Kong with air New Zealand as part of a code share with Cathay to London and return. I have not traveled air new Zealand for many years despite the fact that I travel international very frequently. The main reason being I am very price conscious and other airlines are all offering cheaper seats. Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent service all round no doubt it is a very good airline offering top line service and facilities.

Air New Zealand was great! I wish our connection flights weren’t through United, as they don’t have as good of service. Air New Zealand had great on flight meals, snacks and beverages (all included). They also had good in flight entertainment with their tablets at each seat with videos, audio books, games and other fun features. The staff was great as well!
EDITORS COMMENT: Thanks for the great feedback. They certainly make long haul travel more comfortable.
