Flew Perth – Heathrow and return with Singapore airlines in July/August 2014.
Perth – Singapore leg A330
Singapore – Heathrow leg B777-300
Heathrow – Singapore leg A380 – 8000
Singapore – Perth leg B777 – 200
A good variety of aircraft types here and all provided a good service and standard of comfort that you would expect in Economy class.
Entertainment systems provided a good variety and the meals were quite acceptable, although on the Singapore – Heathrow leg all meals on offer were quite spicy and although I enjoyed them they were not to my wife’s taste.
The seats selected on the return journey were the upper deck of the A380. This is for couples a better choice than the main cabin as layout is 2-4-2, and the window seat has a very useful compartment at the fuselage side.
All in all Singapore airlines tried to make a 13 hour non stop flight as comfortable as possible and the shorter Perth – Singapore trips were just fine.
Boarding was handled smoothly with ground staff enforcing the load from the rear policy – well done, but why don’t airlines enforce the cabin baggage restrictions as overhead lockers were all full and too many passengers had oversize or multiple articles of cabin luggage.
