I recently flew Singapore Airlines from Perth to Colombo, Sri Lanka return. I am a frequent flyer with Qantas however connections into South Asia just aren’t as good as other carriers. As far as the flight experience with Singapore, they are undoubtedly one of the best for service, and are known for it. From check-in through to cabin staff, service was impeccable and the plane was an A330, fully finished and appeared quite new. Being a frequent flyer with Qantas left me without some of the comforts that I am used to. Loss of lounge access is one, particularly between flights and my normal forward aisle seat was of course moved right down the back in a middle seat. The flight wasn’t overly crowded so that was a positive.
The flight timings coming back were not that great leaving Colombo, from memory 1.20am isn’t ideal but most planes on this route seem to overnight, so probably can’t be helped. Connections were tight so that was a positive.
Now that Malaysian has joined Oneworld I will try them out next to this part of the world
