You get what you pay for. I travelled with my husband and 3 kids – 9,7 & 5, in Dec ’15 and return leg in Jan ’16. The BNE route was fine, exceeded my very low expectations in terms of cleanliness and seat comfort. Poor quality food all round but I was prepared for this.
What I didn’t expect was the rude staff and filth from NBO. Food was served within 30 minutes of take-off, after which we started to experience turbulence lasting the next few hours. Passengers got sick, toilets were filthy, the cabin air stank! Fortunately one of my kids had been to the loo before food was served, but after that, no one who wasn’t vomiting could risk using the toilets. Every time someone stood up from their seat, the cabin crew would yell out for the person to sit right back. Food spilled from trays onto the aisle, causing a slip hazard. While I understand the frustration of the crew, they could be better trained for such situations.
Also, did the pilots have to remain on that turbulent flight path????
The second leg to BNE of 13 hours felt far shorter than the prior hellish 5 hours, even taking into account an hours delay on the tarmac between final boarding and take-off.
