For many years now have I flown from JFK to PBI, generally via Atlanta and return. As I have a chronic back problem and have difficulty walking distances and getting up and down stairs I order wheelchair assistance, consequently I am generally one of the first ones on board. On one occasion, I was the first person on board, I asked a male flight attendant to help me put my carry-on n the overhead bin as I am short and cannot lift weights above my head. My request was totally ignored so asked again, the male FA begrudgingly helped me, another elderly lady ,also short, asked for his assistance only to be told that if she couldn’t lift it in the over head bin she should have checked her bag in. His attitude was totally disgusting, very lazy, he was the only male FA on board and let the female FA do all the work, I hardly saw him at all during the flight. Wheel chair assistance does leave a lot to be desired at times, t has happened on a couple of occasions that no-one showed up in the waiting area to assist me to board the plane even though I reminded the people at the desk I was still waiting for help. On the whole though the wheelchair people are very courteous. The seating in Delta economy is very cramped and feel like sardines in a tin and on many occasions the person n front of me has put back his seat even before we take off making the seating even more uncomfortable..My flights are always changed and often late in leaving and/or arriving.
