My partner and I flew economy from Auckland – LA – London and back on their 777-300 in Dec 2013 – Jan 2014 (NZ 1 and NZ 2). Great way to fly. The food was good for my partner, but I received salmon as the gluten-free options on both flights on the way back (yuck!). Perhaps Air NZ could look to provide two different options on these two legs. Also, the gluten-free bread was not palatable. The entertainment choice is very good and can be supplemented by whatever entertainment I had on my tablet/PC, as I could plug it in to be charged during the flight. We chose priority seating, which allowed us to book 2 seats alone almost at the very back of the plane (row 57) by the window. This was GREAT as we had no annoying neighbours to climb over the get to the loo or who disturbed us when they needed to get out, etc. Paying the extra for priority seating was worth it. We also got seated before the bulk of the economy passengers. Service was great on the flight. I have chosen to fly with Air NZ for the last 9 years now as the experience is the best. The expense of the flight was the only major downfall, as we paid 7,900 NZ Dollars, which is excessive and limits our opportunities to get back to Europe.
