An A320 operated by Jetstar Japan has made an emergency landing at Chubu Airport near Nagoya following a bomb threat Saturday morning according to the Japan Times.

The media outlet said that “according to police and airport officials, the aircraft made an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat, NHK reported. Investigators said an international phone call from Germany had been received at Narita Airport in Chiba Prefecture around 6:20 a.m., with a man claiming in English to have put 100 kilograms of plastic explosives in the aircraft’s cargo hold and demanding to speak with airline officials.”

Several fire trucks and other vehicles were seen parked near the plane after passengers were taken away in buses. But as of 11:30 a.m., no explosives or other suspicious items had been found.

The plane, which was carrying 136 passengers and six crew members, took off from Narita Airport and had been bound for Fukuoka.

A Jetstar Japan spokesperson confirmed the incident:

A Jetstar Japan flight travelling from Tokyo (Narita) to Fukuoka diverted to Chubu Airport, landing normally at 7:41am local time today after a potential security incident. Out of an abundance of caution, passengers disembarked via emergency slides. We know this would have been distressing for passengers and thank them for their cooperation. Our teams are supporting them and working to get them on their way as quickly as possible. Jetstar Japan is also working closely with Chubu Airport and local authorities to investigate the situation.
