American Airlines is boosting its Miami hub with new services to Latin America while extending its reach across the Atlantic from several major airports.

The increased services from Miami International Airport will see American add flights to Lima, Peru, from April 7, as well as Santiago, Chile, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, both from the start of winter 2020.

Also coming: a new daily service to London Heathrow from Boston starting March 29 as well as extended seasonal services from three hubs to European destinations Rome, Dublin and Barcelona.

The increased services to South America coincide with American’s 30th anniversary at Miami International Airport.

American currently operates two daily flights to Lima and the new flight will see it increase its year-round frequency to three a day using a Boeing 757.

The flights to Santiago and Brazil’s biggest city will be operated by Boeing 777-200s.

The announcements come after rival Delta Air Lines last week it was taking a 20 percent stake in American’s Latin oneworld partner, LATAM.

“American’s leading position in Miami is something we’re incredibly proud of and committed to maintaining,” said Vasu Raja, American’s Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning.

“We have so many possibilities from our Latin American gateway and are excited for the opportunity to use our domestic strength to enhance our international network.

“We’ll continue to grow, compete and thrive in a region of the world where we have a long history and a bright future.”

The new flight between Boston and Heathrow will give customers five daily flights to choose from when those operated by partner British Airways are included.

The new flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200 featuring 37 Flagship business seats and 24 in premium economy.

The new flight will fit into the BA schedule with a peak evening departure (AA108) and a morning departure from Heathrow (AA109).

American customers receive a further benefit from a move by BA parent company International Airlines Group to fly budget carrier LEVEL three times weekly between Boston and Paris Orly Airport from March 31.

American and BA now fly up to 71 flights a day between the US and London and the airlines are promising Atlantic partnership will be bigger and better next summer with 125,000 additional seats per month.

The new Boston flight comes as the airline has co-located all mainline operations to a renovated part of Terminal B that features a new baggage claim facility and a newly renovated Admiral’s Club.

The US carrier is also promising an early summer with extended seasonal flying on some popular routes.

New York JFK to Rome will now operate from March 29 to October 23 and the service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Dublin will be extended to start May 7 and finish October 7.

The Chicago-Barcelona service will now operate from April 6 to October 23.
